About Bonnie Raitt

Bonnie Lynn Raitt is an American blues singer and guitarist who has been a part of the music scene since 1971. She got her start when she released her self-titled debut album and has since gone on to release hit album after hit album that showcases her talent and her unique blend of blues, rock, folk, and country music. She’s also been a frequent collaborator who released stunning work alongside her fellow artists including Warren Zevon, Little Feat, Jackson Browne, The Pointer Sisters, John Prine and Leon Russell.

Early Career

While Raitt had her fans even in her earliest appearances, it was undeniable that she wasn’t quite reaching mainstream success status. But in 1989 that changed with the release of her 10th studio album, Nick of Time. The album featured the hit song by the same name and reached #1 on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Album of the Year. It became such a cultural icon that it was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the US National Recording Registry. And it undeniably put her on the music map.

Her following two albums were similarly successful, with both Luck of the Draw (1991) and Longing in Their Hearts (1994) becoming multimillion sellers. Both albums also featured several hit singles that would define Raitt’s style and voice in the hearts of her fans.

Awards and Accolades

To date, Raitt has received 10 Grammy Awards including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. She was also recognized as #50 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Singers of all Time”. She also found a place on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and received the Icon Award from the Billboard Women in Music Awards.

It’s clear that Bonnie Raitt made her mark in music and nothing is going to hold her back.
